Method

  1. Steep dates and baking soda in boiling water, mash slightly.
  2. Cream butter and sugar, then beat in eggs and dates.
  3. Fold in flour, divide between buttered ramekins, bake at 350F for twenty minutes.
  4. Pour warm toffee sauce over each pudding to serve.
